The Nunavut Land Claim Agreement (NLCA) was the result
of over twenty years of work by Inuit politicians and negotiators.
The NLCA outlines a wide variety of rights and responsibilities
that Inuit now have in such areas as wildlife management,
land management and environmental protection, economic activity,
land ownership, and social and heritage matters. Students
in this course learn about many of the details of this complex
Agreement. While the legal language can be challenging, students
come away proud of the knowledge they have acquired, and proud
of the rights Inuit have secured for their future.
