This course will provide students with insights into
the implementation of the 1993 Nunavut Land Claims Agreement
(NLCA) from the perspective of the main stakeholders, i.e.
Designated Inuit Organizations (DIOs), Institutions of Public
Government (IPGs), the Government of Nunavut (GN) and the
Government of Canada (GoC). Students will also become familiar
with the process associated with the negotiation of the second
implementation contract for the next 10-years of the NLCA.
Methodology will include lectures, readings, individual and
group research, and presentations by relevant officials. Emphasis
will be on the development of critical research and analytical
skills.
