INUIT HISTORY II

"Inuit History - the 1900's - Everyone takes modern life in the communities for granted now - but of course it wasn't always this way. The focus of this course is on how the change from traditional Inuit life to the modern-day world actually happened. Throughout the 1900's, new ideas and technologies came from the outside world and were adopted by Inuit right across the Arctic. Missionaries brought a new religion, traders brought new goods and technologies and the Canadian government brought new ways of organizing society in areas such as justice, education, employment and the creation of communities. Students learn about these different influences and the changes they brought to the Inuit way of life."
